During the final months of WWII, an increasingly desperate Luftwaffe introduced the world's first operational jet fighter, which represented a huge advancement in aviation technology and threatened to overturn Allied air superiority. Despite being 100mph slower than the German jet, the superb North American Mustang fighter was available in great numbers and hunted the Me262 mercilessly, picking them off in the air and on the ground.

On the 26th November 2003, the last British Airways Concorde G-BOAF flew low over her birth city of Bristol, before landing at the Filton airfield factory site where she had been built just 24 years earlier. She would be the last Concorde to fly, effectively bringing to an end the historic era of supersonic passenger aviation.

Ordered straight from the drawing board in 1935 the Bristol Type 142, later called the Blenheim was, for its time, a very advanced aircraft but by the outbreak of the Second World War it had been overtaken by fighter development. Seeing service across all the major fronts of the Second World War, the Blenheim was used extensively by the RAF as both a light bomber and fighter before being phased out of service in 1943, replaced by more modern types less vulnerable to enemy fighters.
